One of the most desirable places to live in Charlotte, NC. is the
new development of Ballantyne.
Ballantyne is on the south side of Charlotte, just south of I-485 at the Johnston Rd exit.
Once part of the hunting preserve of former NC Governor Morrison, the 2000 acre Ballantyne property was recently developed. It contains a central business area of shops and
restaurants, including a Harris Teeter grocery store, Eckerd's and CVS drug stores, as well as other businesses. There are several news single family housing developments and
several apartment complexes.

That's why I live there.)

One attraction of the Ballantyne area is the
Village Theater, an independent five screen theater with an emphasis on
art house and independent films. This theater is within a short drive or a
reasonable walk from any of the apartment complexes in Ballantyne.
There is also a YMCA with fitness training in
Ballantyne, within a short drive or a reasonable walk from the apartments.
Of course, if you are going there to get exercise, why would you drive when
you can walk to it. There is a larger family YMCA only a few miles away.
